What is Social Media
“Forms of electronic communication … through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content….” (Definition of Social Media, n.d.)
Social Media or social networking provides a worldwide connection where there is a Fire hose of online information and conversation supported by services such as:
Facebook now Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn, Mastodon,Pinterest, Reddit, TikTok, Truth Social, Parler, Rumble, Snapchat, Threads, Twitter now X, YouTube, WhatsApp.
Keep in mind that there are numerous other niche social media platforms and regional networks that cater to specific interests and demographics. The social media landscape constantly evolves, so checking for the latest platforms and trends in your area or industry is a good idea.

Social media platforms can offer many benefits such as facilitating communication, connecting people, and providing a platform for self-expression, etc. However, it must be used responsibility.
